It was the autumn of 2015 and I was overzealous for “basic” activities. I drank apple cider, I peeped some leaves. What I had not done as of mid-October was carve a pumpkin. I decided to invite a few friends over for pumpkin carving and randomly threw in the idea of baking a pumpkin pie from our pumpkins as well.

I’ve never owned a pie plate, so I made sure to purchase one the night before attempting to make the pie. Long story short, we ended up making an apple pie instead of a pumpkin one because I now know that the pumpkins you carve are not the same pumpkins you turn into pies. Oops.

So I have this pie plate.

I normally don’t make pies, or even think to. I prefer making small desserts like cookies and cupcakes. But I was now in possession of something I’d never thought I would need in my life, a ceramic pie plate with the quote “happiness is homemade”.

All of a sudden, I felt the need to make pies. Apple. Pumpkin. Shepherd. All the pies! I made three pies within the span of a month (which is a pretty high yield considering I was averaging zero pies a month before owning a pie plate). During the following month, I made chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, and cheesecake. I was making more food than I had in years, and it was all due to that pie plate. It reminded me of my love for baking, and making food in general.

Well, the thing about food is that it can take you hours to create and only minutes to consume. I wasn’t satisfied with simply posting a picture of my creation for family and friends to see, and so I thought about making video tutorials of my creations. At the same time, because of all the food I was cranking out, a few friends suggested I start a blog. Thus, I shall be doing both. I plan on initially focusing on food and then potentially expanding to cover some DIY projects as well.

I’ve decided to make this blog my New Year’s resolution for 2016. I’ve been pretty good at keeping resolutions in the past, and I believe I have a decent shot at keeping this one.
